Hi. I've been working from home as a stay-at-home-mom/entrepreneur for the past seven years. I've done lots of things that were unsuccessful and some things that have worked out pretty well. I have done all of this to have those few special years with my child as something more than the lady who picks him up from daycare and tucks him in bed at night. I know many of you want the same thing for your families so I'm going to give you some tips I've learned along the way.
You've seen the ads:
Make $200/hr on surveys giving your opinion. Make thousands per day, no website required. Assemble crafts at home and get paid.
Tempting? They can be. They appeal to your greed like any good confidence game. I never paid attention to these, assuming them to be frauds until a dear friend, a new mother who is looking for something that will let her stay home with her infant, sent me a link to what she thought was an impartial site that reviewed these work-from-home-schemes. When I went there and took a look around I saw affiliate links to these schemes, repackaged with personal recommendations from the supposedly impartial website. Hm. So how real were they? Well, I couldn't leave it alone now that I was curious.
With the internet, many of us are turning to alternative sources of income, personally generated jobs where we can work from home and be there for our kids. The trick is to separate fact from fiction, decide on a path, and then follow through. Sound simple enough?
Sure, but there are a lot of sharks out there in those cyber-waters just waiting to take your hard earned cash for themselves. This guide is designed to help you navigate through all of that. And without the pie-in-the-sky review of sites that are really just some dressed up affiliate links. I'm not saying there aren't affiliate links here, there are, but go read About Affiliates to understand more of my own personal philosophy regarding them.
On this website you will find discussions about online surveys, pay-per-click marketing, some of the various work at home scams, information on starting your own website, idea generation tools, blogging, and much more. My own experience is that while I have not become rich online, I have been able to do well enough that I can work at something I love, lampworking. The articles here are the result of my own personal experience in starting an online business Lampwork Art - Handmade Glass Beads, my activities with online auctions, web design, search engine optimization, promotion, etc. and my continuing development of additional websites.
I hope you find the information on this site useful.
Sincerely,
Josephine Brooks
